In any undertaking we take in life that requires intense focus and bulldog determination, it can at times put our life on hold. My good friend Khalil and I are in the final stages of cutting Return to Happiness the Movie. Well I know one thing, what you put in, is what your going to get out. I’ve learned a lot about myself throughout the creation of this film. I’ve met countless friends a long the way that I have no doubt will be in my life for ever. Still No EXCUSE as my dear friend IZZY would say to me..So sorry folks, I’ve been a busy man. All I can say is that prioritizing our life is essential to success. And good habits are formed just the same as bad ones. I go a few days without blogging and I get into a bad habit…No excuse even though I’m writing a voice over! haha…Well I’m back for now and expect me to pop up more regularly now that the film is almost complete.
LOVE LIFE – Ryan Phillips

As I write I’m in the home stretch of Making Return to Happiness a tangible reality. Which started off as a dream close to five months ago and took myself and cameraman and editor Khalil Michot “all over the map” is coming into form. I’d like to take this opportunity to give thanks to the many people along this journey that have made it so inspiring. And to Khalil and all you film editors, hats off you people are bad ass and true artists. The journey has been fun, but along any journey along our trails, it’s the people you remember most. From the simplest farmer on a country side road to the many travelers a long the way. The gift of my happiness is watching the film and the positive people that have made my life that much better in just getting to know them as people. Through coordinated effort, anything is possible. Stay tuned friends..
Well I was told I should talk more about sex and relationships. So here it goes…It’s a tricky subject at times. We all desire love and sex as it heads the positive emotion list as the driving force in many endeavors. I’ve been wrapped up in a project that has taken a lot of energy from my being, so sex hasn’t been very prevalent on the list. I’ve had to use my sex energy to transmute into other channels. My opinion is that a healthy relationship should have sex as much as our busy days allow it. When sex is performed with positive intent it can lead individuals to outstanding achievement. But for me I have to have the full package. The days of meaningless sex are long gone for me. I can’t just wake up in the morning with a woman I hardly know and feel good about the act. There obviously has to be an attraction for both individuals. I’m not saying one night stands are bad, many amazing relationships have spawned on the ol “one nighters”. But getting to know your partner on a deeper level in my mind makes sex that much better. And for all you sex addicts out there, don’t feel bad, as our natural state is to pro create. The thing is, just be careful. There are so many broken relationships, and kids with no father or mother. So wrap em up boys and just know that consequences are real. The quick fix is exactly that..Sex is being exploited more than ever. Just respect your body and be well. Be healthy, as your body is your temple.
When I was in Cambodia not that long ago I was blessed to have the opportunity to visit the Sacred Temple of Angkor Wat. The sun rose over the big main gate with onlookers in awe of the beauty . The Khmer were master stone carvers and massive Buddha”s were everywhere in sight to remind us of their beliefs. I came upon a group of men playing the most beautiful strains of music. The band was a special band though. They were all victims of land mines that crippled and maimed all of them. One of the men was blind. But they all had smiles on their face. They let me join in and play some drums. The first thing that came to my mind was. Here’s this group of men who have been physically damaged so bad, but on almost a daily basis they play beautiful music for visitors that compensate them with tips. No matter how bad it gets there’s always someone worse off. It also shows that despite handicaps we can all use our strengths to benefit others. My hat goes off to people that overcome physical and mental handicaps and do great things. Nothing is impossible, only if we make it out to be. If you think you can’t, odds are you won’t! If you think you can…odds are you will succeed.
I have been heavily involved in a project that has been very testing on my energy. But Like anything we take on in life that has meaning to us, it’s the journey and the learning you do along the way. There is no such reality as something for nothing in this world. The time to start any idea you think will have a positive impact on your life and others, is in the time of it’s inception. Great ideas usually spring up out of nowhere out of ones subconscious mind. I don’t think I’m the only one who sleeps with a computer close by. Some of our best ideas are created in dream states and upon awakening during sleep. So holding onto those ideas instead of wasting them could be written down right away, just a thought. It’s been really helping me. I’ve been practicing more meditation in the past few weeks then ever and I find the creative faculty of the mind works in a much more productive fashion. Our imaginations work better when we are in a relaxed state. The point I’m getting at is sometimes we forget great ideas that would be so beneficial if we would only write them down, instead of losing them in the on going thoughts that bombard our days. Ideas are the seedlings of all great things in life….
I walked along the Santa Monica seawall this morn to see many people running, riding bikes, skateboarding and boot camps on the beach. People of all ages out and about being health conscious was super cool. I do know one thing, sometimes it’s tough to get into a routine of fitness. But when the routine becomes habit we reap the benefits in all aspects of our daily life. It injects energy and promotes blood flow to the brain and heart which in turn make us much more sharper and alert in all situations. It’s all about feeling good! I saw this one gentleman that was in his 80’s and he had a ear to ear smile with a cane making his walk along the seawall and I thought to myself “what a dude!” He could be at home sleeping or accepting his age as a excuse, but he was rolling along with an energetic grin that made me think how lucky I am to be have my health and take advantage of it. Love the inspiration of seeing people older still caring for their body and mind. Just gotta keep the blood flowing baby!!!
