Feel great..

It’s not rocket science that without our health we can’t experience all the wonderful joys of life. Life is all about balance. Of course I love to pig out on pizza and ice cream and whatever “junk foods” I can get my hands on at times. Actually a lot of the time, I have to be honest I love sweets. But because I also eat very well and train my body on a daily basis to balance out the so called “junk” I find that I can get away with the not so good foods. Our bodies are machines, and they run like fuel injected into a vehicle. The better the fuel the more optimal our bodies will perform. Our thoughts are run along the same lines, the more we inject positive affirmations of love and desire, the more our mind feeds upon those thoughts and moves our body into action.

My suggestion to all who desire to feel better moment by moment is to feed our bodies with at least 30 minutes a day of exercise. Your body and mind will thank you as more energy will flow your way and when you look in the mirror you will see tangible results. It’s the release of endorphins that will make you feel younger and vibrant. And when your physical apparatus is working systematically your over all state of well being will improve big time. When I don’t have a gym, I resort to push ups, but it’s up to you to improvise. I’m wishing you all a healthy day full of goodness.

Change/Plans

It’s obvious we go through many changes in our lives. The journey can be planned to perfection and right about when you think the plan is about to manifest into concrete reality the universe at times pulls a reverse gear and sends us into another direction. It’s only through my thought habits and awareness that I’ve come to the conclusion that going with the flow while having a definite plan, staying focused on our goals is the only way to stay somewhat present in a time of absolute expectation. Having too many goals can work against us a lot of the times. That’s why it’s my suggestion to make a few goals that resonate deep in your soul. The goals that may seem unrealistic are the ones I find most exciting to focus on.

When plans change, instead of getting all bent out of shape about them, just accept them as being not particularly sound, make some minor changes and refocus on that which you are striving for. Everyday is a challenge to better yourself, strive for what you truly desire in life. Another suggestion is to create a vision board of material objects if that’s what you intend. If it’s a career path, study videos on great people in that profession and try and emulate their good qualities. Change is inevitable so, accept change as part of the growing process and always do your very best and watch the good unfold in front of your eyes. We are meant to thrive and succeed in life. Make focus and persistence a habit because together they make an irresistible pair.

HAPPINESS

I’m sitting in a hotel room reflecting on my life, people I’ve met along the journey of the life I’ve led. I’ve reached the point in my life that I try not to think too far ahead into the future. I find that being present no matter what time of day it is and just being aware and appreciating everything around us, loved ones, health ect..you get my drift. Happiness is a state of mind. In my mind happiness is something that we all deserve if we follow certain rules. Now this is just my suggestion. Treating people like you want to be treated, how simple is that? ahhh it’s easy! Don’t we all just want to be loved and appreciated. Giving our best selves no matter what the circumstances. Life can be very complex and inspire one with awe when so called miracles happen. But I find staying in a state of appreciation and sending out the positive energy, being present and purely engaged in the higher flow of the energy field will make you more connected to positive energy.

Happiness in my mind is eliminating judgement, jealousy, anger and other negatives I need not name. It’s our responsibility to have a tight lock on our minds into a state of positive, and when that happens, and it will only happen by habit and practice. We will find ourselves in a state of natural well being and feeling good most of the time. Forgiveness of the people that have wronged us is essential in order to move into a state of mind that allows goodness and love to flow. Again friends these are all suggestions. I sincerely desire all of you to have a life full of adventure, happiness and creative intention.

WHAT A RIDE! THANKS TO ALL..

When I first signed up for the Somaly Mam Foundation, Project Futures Global bike ride across the beautiful country of Cambodia I knew it would be special. But as usual in life the real impacting moments always happen on the “ride”. Life long friendships were made with some of the most genuine authentic people I’ve ever been around in my life. I could write a book on all the stories of laughter, joy and tears spent with this amazing group. The universe inspires one with awe when you think about all the circumstances and situations that bring everything together in just the right format. I was riveted with emotions on a daily basis and my love grew not only for my fellow bike mates. But for the Cause we were raising money for, the young girls who we were giving hope for. And for the blessing that through this amazing group and the people of Cambodia I was learning a lot more about myself as a human being on this planet.

To meet Somaly was a great moment. Her heart is filled with love and hope. I can’t say enough positive words about the crew that helped put all this together and all the pieces fit just perfect. I will cherish these memories in my heart and soul forever. It was hard to say goodbye to not only the girls at the shelters but the courageous people that I spent so much time bonding with. Just to be a part of something so powerful and special, and to know that many lives will be changed forever makes me feel at peace. I will carry these memories with me forever and gain an even more important lesson, that “every little bit helps”. My last words is to all who I met along the journey- I LOVE YOU, AND MISS YOU ALREADY!

 Until next year…Ryan Phillips.

87km with LOVE!

The “team” rode with authority today with love in their hearts and passion in their souls. To think five days ago I only knew Serinda and Khalil. Serinda was an old friend who I hadn’t seen in a long time, so it’s only been in the past few days that we’ve been able to rekindle our friendship. So let me give you a brief description of FRIENDSHIP in my opinion. Friendship is powerful, and caring! It’s when you love with all your heart everything about them without judgement. I really didn’t know what to expect at the beginning of this powerful journey of like minded people who care with every ounce of their being. I can say with every fiber of my being that I have fallen in love with each and every person involved. I truly believe all our forces are working as one. And then when I feel the love from all the members in this group I feel the power of the human spirit.

The feeling of accomplishment today was ineffable. Again the smiles of the kids made it emotional and so filled with joy. The country side of Cambodia is breath taking as cows wander across the street and people from this sacred land wave in wonder with an open heart. At one point of the day I had goose bumps thinking of this ride, and just being in the moment, getting to know some of these people on a deeper spiritual level. I will carry this experience with me forever as I’m eternally grateful for my blessed opportunity to be a part of something so special. I’ve never met Somaly Mam, but tomorrow I will have the opportunity to meet a woman that has endured hardships but never let her set backs turn her into a victim. She’s a survivor that gives hope and vitality to women, that without her intention for happiness and a better world a lot of girls would be in some ugly situations as they were before.

It’s a classic case how one can turn adversities into building blocks of human achievement for the love of humanity. Chalk another beautiful day up for the “team”, we’re half way there and I know it’s only going to get better. Oh, and to all my friends in the group that I was able to see the amazing sunset with last night, thank you for sharing that moment of time with me. It’s those moments that I feel an infinite energy stream caressing through my body that makes me appreciate all the great people that come into my life.

LOVE YOU ALL…YOUR FRIEND RYAN.

ONE GREAT DAY

The ride is on full throttle now baby! The only words that can describe the feeling of riding through the Cambodian country side is WOW! 55km on the bikes as on lookers and passer byes in local villages and vehicles warmed our sweaty bodies with smiles and laughs. Children were heard screaming beautiful heeeelloooooo’s…What a great experience, and I speak for the group as a whole when I say that it’s all so worth it. We’re all here to ride for a purpose and the whole time on the bike all I can think about is how beautiful this life is. No matter the circumstances of your daily routine, and whatever adversities you’ve been through. Just being present in the moment and doing your best is something I encourage everyone to focus on.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Somaly Mam for her efforts and acts of courage. I would would also like to take a moment to express my gratitude to Adam Martin, Izzy Katz and the whole team of people that make this possible. The Cambodian workers are amazing and such gentlle nice people who’s efforts haven’t gone unseen. This is only the beginning but already I’m blessed to have met amazing people that surely will be connected in my life forever.

A great dinner on the beach and a late night swim capped off the perfect day. Getting ready to saddle up for another ride today.

Infinite gratitude and love-Ryan

Emotions running on high gear.

When I first heard about Project Futures Global and the Somaly Mam foundation through my friend Serinda I it just felt right. I’m a firm believer that if it feels right then it is, and just go for it! especially when I found out about what the cause was for and the positive change and growth it has had on impacting women globally. The mission is to ride with purpose and raise money for these girls that have had such misfortune, so they can reintegrate back into society and thrive like we as humans, should be able to . In the past two days I’ve met so many beautiful souls that all desire hope for what Somaly and now so many others stand for. To Somaly and all who are involved I salute you. It takes courage to back your beliefs and effort with positive action, and if it weren’t for the great energy that is behind this project, great change wouldn’t be taking place as there is tangible evidence of success stories that I’ve come to learn about in the short time of my involvement.

After a short ride and many boat rides, and one mishap (my new good buddy Terry falling off his ride) the group went for a great lunch and met many victims that are no longer victims but survivors that work in conjunction with the foundation. I was in a bundle of emotions as I listened intently while a few of the girls told their stories. Many tears and many laughs and hugs were shared during an afternoon of awesome moments. The first of many to come over the next nine days. I could get into the horror stories of what sex and human trafficking is all about , but I’ll choose to focus on the energy stream of love, light and laughter that is being brought into conscious awareness because of these amazing people behind the scenes that are giving love from their hearts and focusing on a better world for not only these unfortunates, but for the world as a whole. Happiness is an inside job that shines outward. Not always easy, but the more we live in gratitude and hope the more joy our lives come into harmony with our current intent.

To all who are involved, and to the world I’m sending you positive vibes and LOVE-Ryan

ORPHANAGE AND CURLY

I was in paradise today! No it wasn’t a white sandy beach on the water…it was at a very small poor orphanage on the outskirts of Pnohm Penh. My personal tuk tuk driver Curly who has become a great friend over the past three days took me and my cameraman Khalil to a plave where the kids glowed like shinning lights. Dirty as it may have been, it cleansed my soul and my heart to see the smiles on their faces when us visitors showed up with massive bags of rice that would keep them fed for sometime. One of the youngsters stole my heart when I found out he was a heart surgery survivor. We played soccer, we played basketball we laughed, I cried. And as I tried to fight back the tears I was met with hugs and laughter that brought me back to the realization that even though these kids were so called victims of circumstances. They were all truly happy. Not one of them had a look of sadness on their faces.

We danced and talked for hours and they were proud to show me their rooms . How I ever got this opportunity I am so thankful. I found it hard to leave. But like anything in life, the moments are only temporary and then it was time to bid farewell. It made me think of all the family gatherings I’ve had over the years. The summer sports camps, and the love my family surrounded me with. I never did without. My inner child shone through as both my hands were being held with love. I had children jumping on my back. That’s what happens when you walk into any situation with an open heart and mind free of judgment. It makes me look at all the people that honk their horns in rush hour, the people who panic in long lines. These kids with nothing other than the love in their hearts have only the moment and a life outside the orphanage what is unknown to look forward to. These kids are strong with courage. And the fact one of the kids gave me a special bracelet he made to wear made this day one I’ll never forget.

Keep fit in Cambodia

Being a firm believer that fitness and health gives you a better stream of energy and adds vitality and life force to your overall well being, I did “keep fit” disco style on the river walk in Phnom penh. The instructor insisted I help lead the group, Mom you would be proud! I worked up one heck of a sweat. I truly believe that your mind and body are to be treated as your temple. And nothing feels better than a good sweat. I gave it my all but holly cow I was a little off beat as this group of people have been doing this for sometime obviously and everything comes in repetition. But after I got into the groove with many onlookers wondering who the heck this big foreigner was, who was new to the group I finally found my stride.

I don’t know why but I had many people stopping to take pictures and having a few laughs at my expense. All in good fun of course, I guess I just looked a tad out of place. But it made my day so fulfilled after a short visit to the killing fields and S-21. I couldn’t stay there long, if any of you are history buffs, that’s where millions of innocent Cambodians were killed for no reason. So I needed some positivity, and I’m glad a could amuse many of the onlookers. I train for body, mind and soul. It’s an inner release that lets the body energy flow in a natural state of wellness. I thank god for my body and how I can use it to do the many great things we are all meant to do. Stay active folks, your inner and outer being will thank you.

PHNOM PENH

After a 6 hour rip down the mighty Mekong river getting myself some sun along the way, I was elated to see all the smiles from the people in the floating fishing villages and little boats along the way. Wave after wave and great energy rippled through my body as I anticipated the last leg of my journey before embarking on this bike ride of a life time. I almost wish it was tomorrow, but 4 days is nothing in retrospect. I’m just anxious to be traveling with a great group of people who other than two I’ve yet to meet. For the next few days I’m going to train my butt off. My last bit of so called down time before this glorious opportunity.

Downtime my butt, who’s kidding who, I can never sit still for too long. I always have to be moving and doing something or I feel as if I’m not living. Guess I got that from my parents who are always on the go. Both of them are always giving their best in all aspects of life, and like the old saying goes if your going to emulate someone, make it someone great. Well I have two amazing parents who just celebrated their 43rd anniversary. They’ve put up with my shenanigans for years and after all my shortcomings and coming down to earth they are the ones I love the most and look up to and want to emulate. They are a real tough act to follow but hey I’m doing my best. I look forward to writing tomorrow with an update of my evening tonight.

Ryan.
