Inspirational People

We all have people in life that we look to for inspiration and hope. It’s those people that we look at in amazement when we see the incredible accomplishments they’ve achieved in whatever it is they do. Man or woman , we as a human race are evolving at such a rapid rate in technology, science, sports the arts and music. You name it, the human race is constantly advancing forward and defying all odds and realizing the endless capabilities we posses. I don’t have to look to far for inspiration in my world. My father who has been a pillar of strength in the community and wherever he goes shines his positive energy and happiness to all he comes into contact with.
Last year he had heart surgery to repair a leaky valve that was a genetic disorder. Not only did it test the faith of his will, it was a test to my whole family that love him so very much. He was very stressed as anyone in his situation would be, knowing that his chest was being cracked open for open heart surgery. He handled the situation with such grace and dignity and very seldom let his emotions which lied very close to the surface come about in a negative manner. I think I was more worried than him about the unknown. Well for the grace of a power that was looking over his spirit that day, because the surgery went on for two hours longer than it should have. His heart had grown bigger than normal and was working on overtime. The doctor said if they hadn’t gone in when they did a heart attack was inevitable in a short time.
He made it through the surgery and the recovery was long and hard for the first eight months. I saw the man who always exemplified hero status in my mind have to endure a lot of physical and mental pain. With the willingness to never except being down, he persevered and mentally fought back like a warrior. Little by little he regained his strength through a positive mental attitude, healthy diet and exercise. He made it his goal to come back stronger than ever. And now at the age of 65 he’s like a machine again with a new lease on life. He talks often about his “second chance”. He doesn’t waste a second complaining about anything, and his faith has taken on a new belief. The doctors that perform these surgeries at times don’t get the credit they deserve. These amazing doctors are examples of some of the real heroes in this world that give so many people a second chance in life.
I’m proud of my father and his inner drive to not only survive, but take his life to another level and want to be even better. He gives service to other patients with heart problems, works charity events for cancer, and is always there to lend a hand. He doesn’t ever look for a pat on the back or any credit, he does it all for a love for humanity and life which comes straight from his HEART!
THANKS TO ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT INSPIRE- Ryan

NATURE,ENJOY,REFLECT AND LAUGH..

I’ve said many times that it’s the simple things in life that carry with them the most joy. Last night I went for a nice walk in some light rain just after dinner, it was a bit on the cold side, but nothing a warm jacket couldn’t take care of. My friend and I walked through some trails in the forest, where a creek cut through the wilderness. We both stopped on a bridge that went over the creek and listened to the water flow down stream. It was as if a sense a calm and peace rushed through my body and soul all at once in that moment of time. Everything was just perfect. Funny how a walk in the woods with a simple stream of water can connect you to the energy source of feeling the oneness of your being with nature.

COURAGE

Today I read a blog post that my cousin writes on arthritis. It really hit really hit home because her and I have always had a very close relationship and shared practically everything in our lives. I’m very lucky that I come from a very strong and loving family. My cousin has had this condition for sometime now, and over the years I understand she’s been handicapped by a lot of pain at times physically and emotionally. But no matter what, whenever we’ve been at a family gathering or in each others company she’s never been one to complain. Her strength and courage empowers me and after reading her blog today it made me realize that she has hidden a lot of her pain from the people that love her the most.

Ken and Mary, “more than just billets”

As I write this post I am flooded with emotions! Yesterday I was reminiscing about some of my old hockey days in Tacoma Washington and some of the amazing people there that made my stay there special. I was 17 and for all that knew me a little “all over the map” was an understatement. It was a tough time for me to be away from home as I had to deal with some injuries that really set me back. But life kept going and I’ll never forget some of the guys on the team that made every turn of the wheel in life as a junior hockey player interesting and fun. We had a great fan base there in Tacoma, and all the guys on the team were blessed to have a lot of the people in the community supporting them in all aspects of life and make them feel at home.
Yesterday I was curious about one of my friends that used to hang around the team, her name was Shana. Shana was a great girl and we always shared lots of laughs and memories. I tried adding her to Facebook yesterday because my mind was on the old days. I figured she was probably married but I gave it a shot. Her name didn’t come up. This morning I woke up early and had a friend request on my phone for Facebook and low and behold it was Shana. Talk about the law of attraction working at it’s best. I had goosebumps all over my body and accepted right away and told her my story! Craazzzzy!!!. Shana had an aunt and Uncle that were a host family for players on the team, knowing as billets. That’s where young men that were away from home would live and call it home. I was very blessed to live with her aunt Mary and uncle Ken for half a season before being trading to the Regina Pats.
Mary and ken were two of the most authentic caring people I ever met, and loved and treated me just like a son. Mary was famous for her cooking and would make me a special pie everyday to just make me feel loved and at home. And of course her Italian spaghetti was awesome as well, as her background was from Italy. Some people that come into your life, although it might not be for long as in this case , had such a profound impact on my life. Especially looking back on it now to where I was at that stage, a mixed up kid with more issues than you could shake a stick at. Just trying to fit in was hard at times with the ups and down of a WHL season. Especially playing on a team with 22 guys full of testosterone. But Mary and Ken were so special, even though I lasted in their home for only a short time we stayed in touch for close to 7 years after, until I got caught up in some things in life I’ve since put behind me. If any of the old boys from the Rocket Teams of the early days read this, they will always remember Mary and Ken because they were the ultimate hosts.
They loved having as many of the boys over any time for food and parties that often went on long past our curfew. Their door was open always , and they were some of the best supporting fans as well. My heart was saddened this morning to get the news that Mary passed away on December 30th. And of course it hit me with shock and brought me back into her kitchen when she would make my favourite pies and pre game meals, give me big hugs and always tell me how much she loved me. The world lost an amazing person who’s life stood for something. She was all about family and if there was a book on how to be a mother and Grandmother she could easily have been the author. My heart goes out to Ken and the family and I send my deepest condolences and love to the family. And I’m sure I speak for all the players that spent time in Mary and Kens house as well, They were more than just billets.

Cause and Effect

Everything on the earth plane is first conceived in a thought which is the cause of the action in the individual making a choice. Our choices always determines our fate. Weather the choice we made in the moment was a good one or not in our mind, all choices have consequences. That’s why it’s so very important that before we put action behind our motive, that we really think about if the choice we make is going to benefit ourself and the people around us. Pretty simple? Well if you look back all through history at people who have achieved noteworthy success and in any chosen calling, they always possessed the keen awareness of making good choices.

NO BAD DAYS

Yeah sometimes it’s pouring rain, and things aren’t going exactly the way we want them to be. The days when we aren’t ultra stoked to crawl out of bed and tackle our day with excitement. Reality has hit home now that the holiday season is over, all the great parties, Christmas and new years are behind us now. Now it’s time to get back into the rhythm of reality and get rocking on making this year a success. I find it’s the days that I don’t want to get out of bed and get cracking that end up being great days! I force myself through my inner will and tell myself that wasting time will just set me back and then I’ll end up being hard on myself for not giving every moment of the day my best!
I find a really cool thing to do just before you crawl out of the sack , is to give thanks for another day that you’re blessed to be alive! The very fact that your breathing is a wonderful thing. Throw some water on the face and give that wonderful you a big smile and tell yourself how special you are in front of the mirror because you are! Get the healthiest breakfast you can into you before leaving , stay away from the grease because it’s not good for you at all. Tell yourself with “intention” that “today is going to be a great day with endless possibilities” say it with emotion and really believe it. With enough repetitive practice , because you believe the day will be awesome, awesome things will end up sneaking in with little effort. It’s all about staying focussed and fulfilled, and you can’t be fulfilled if your in an off mood. Giving your best to others is a gift to them, and yourself as well.
play some good music in the house, apartment and on the way to work in the car and watch from an inner level how good you feel. Try and find at least ten minutes in the morning to do a short meditation and focus on the good and let go of what you consider to be bad. Everything I’m telling you is so simple and with enough practice you will start feeling unstoppable most of the time. make everyday a GREAT one! Remember you can’t afford the luxury of a negative thought! It’s tough sometimes but the more you get into the HABIT of staying on the positive tip , it will be hard to get you off the beam…Say to yourself “There is NO bad days!”
Life is a ride alright, ups and down , peaks and valley, but it’s the people that play the game of life with intension to be the best they can be and bring out the best in others that make their mark! If you can make one life better in your day you are truly awesome. Give love boys and girls, and remember it all starts with loving YOU!!.

SEX “and emotions”

I think in most cases women tend to be more emotionally attached when it comes to the topic of sex. I know that sex being purely biological in nature for the purpose of creating life, also brings immense love and affection when it’s shared with the right person. How many times do we hear men and women say “it was just sex”. Well in a lot of cases it is just sex. But usually it’s under the influence of alcohol and other mind stimuli that drives people to have a purely sexual relationship. In most cases when a relationship is based on purely physical desires it doesn’t last long before one of the individuals gets emotionally attached as well. Our bodies are beautiful pieces of art that are meant to be enjoyed through affection and love, and sex heading the list as a positive emotion can get “complicated” at times. Well it gets complicated only if we let it.
