Up at five am. and full of energy because I knew what was in store for me. The breathtaking sunrise of one of the seven wonders of the world Angkor Wat temple! My cameraman Khalil and I were blessed to have a professional guide with us with wit and a great sense of humor. He was very knowledgeable about the all rich history of the ancient Khemer that built large temples covered with giant buddha’s that covered the high and low parts of these temples of the gods. I stayed outside of the outer wall to catch the sunrise which was magnificent, then to avoid all the tourists our guide took us to temples where we were some of the only souls there.
So much thought and creativity went into the building of these ancient temples. It makes me wonder why we as a civilization don’t build such structures in a day when all the resources are available. I know the answer and it does have to do with money and beliefs. These temples were built for Kings and Gods of what this ancient civilization believed in. Not to say we don’t build awesome structures in today’s times. It’s just the intricate attention to detail and perfection that is what attracts people from all over the world to this sacred land.
Make Angkor and it’s surrounding temples a must if your plan on a S.E Asia ad
