I’m literally counting the days down in anticipation of the ride for the Somaly Mam foundation. I always get pumped up when I know adventure presents itself in such a positive way. I loaded up on some cozzy bike gear today at Grasshopper Adventures Bike Shop, so I’ll be ready to rock come cycle time. It just so happens they had some really cool photos of the ride from years past and I was able to see what I’m in for. Biking across this beautiful country is going to be the thrill of a lifetime, and having a purpose while doing so is such a blessing that I’m thankful for. The people at the bike shop were so nice. They gave me a killer discount on my gear and served me up with my favorite drink in the world – Coco nut water!
On the tuk tuk ride back to my place I saw an old barber shop and it had been over three weeks since I had my ears lowered so I took a walk on the wild side and decided a quick trim was in order. I needed to make my head more arrow dynamic for the big ride. For 5 bucks I got the best hair chop I’ve had in years, now I’m really ready to roll. The people hear in Siem Reap have been nothing but gracious and warm at heart wherever we’ve been other than Pub street where if you go, plan on being hassled and harassed a lot. I prefer the daytime. It’s like two different cities, nite and day literally. This place is fun, and when the locals see you posses an open mind and heart they really embrace you. Call it luck or call it destiny, I’ve been so fortunate to meet so many wonderful souls wherever I go, and for that I’m infinitely grateful.
Ryan.
