CAMBODIA BIKE RIDE FOR HOPE

I’m a firm believer that  everyone has the right to thrive and be happy in life. For some of us in this world life has blessed us with an abundance of love and opportunity. For others in countries such as Cambodia where poverty and misfortune has been the norm for sometime now, the sex trade is a major money maker that fuels the underground economy. I saw first hand on my first trip to South East Asia seven years ago how women were mistreated and exploited in the sex trade. For so many it’s just a way of life that they’ve been forced into. An old friend of mine, Serinda Swan caught my eye when I saw that she was supporting a very special cause and inspired me to give back in any way I could to this worthy ideal. Having a daughter that I love with all my heart, it really hit home how a girl as young as 3 can be sold in the sex trade. It resonated deep in my soul that it was the right thing to do.

There’s a foundation called the Somaly Mam Foundation, it’s a non profit organization that is directed to combating the global sex trade through supporting the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of the victims and raising global awareness. The foundation funds more than 10 effective organizations in various parts of the world that are combating sexual slavery and human trafficking. The foundation provides shelter, safety and education while helping these young girls reintegrate into new communities and heal from the traumatic abuse.

On the 28th of February I will be joining Serinda and a score of others in a bike ride across the country of Cambodia to help raise money for the cause. I look forward to this amazing experience to give love and happiness with like minded people that desire positive growth for humanity as a whole. My South East Asia adventure has been filled with many emotional experiences that have built character and more belief that there’s people like Serinda and many others that sincerely care with all their being for a better world. I’m filled with gratitude to have this opportunity, and from my vantage point being around such positive people in harmony with a definite purpose brings me joy beyond words.

If you care to support this cause – I have set up a fundraising page where you can make a donation, every little bit helps.
