It’s my feeling and observation that we are the result of evolutionary change. In the last 100 years we have evolved so much as a species that it almost paralyses ones reason. The knowledge we’ve accumulated ,the inventions that make life that much easier for survival on this planet inspire one with awe. I’m in Cambodia a land that has been poverty stricken for many years. I was here two years ago and was fortunate to see the magnificent ancient temple of Angkor Wat. I was blown away with the way the ancient Khmer people who were master stone carvers payed so much attention to detail. I’ve been here for a few days now and I haven’t been back to the temple. But I’ve explored the city in depth and have been taken back by the mass summoning of people that are obviously drawn here for tourism and other reasons I need not get into. Prices have escalated enormously which in some ways I feel good for the people here that now have a better chance to thrive. But in only two years I’ve witnessed such a dramatic change in the people in the city that are now driven to entice tourists to spend the all mighty dollar. The last time I visited this part of the country I was more at peace by the non hassle of people throwing deals and offerings of everything under the sun.
Just like anything that’s great and attractive in life, it’s only a matter of time before it gets exploited to the masses where consumerism becomes the main issue. The city is alive with lights and people from all over and I feel from my vantage point very blessed to see it from now two perspectives. I know the Great temple of Angkor hasn’t changed and the outskirts of the city still have it’s authenticity and charm. Life is moving so fast these days, and if you don’t get with the flow unfortunately you can get left behind. Everything is energy and energy is moving at a faster rate these days. I do know that if we can be present in every moment and appreciate what we do have no matter what our surroundings better things and like minded people are sure to enter in this attraction based universe. It’s a great day to be alive!
